Centrale Montemartini

A game of contrasts between the machines and the gods

The vast spaces of the Centrale Montemartini, punctuated by gigantic surviving machines, create what is considered more than ever suitable for experimenting with new museographic solutions.

Acea has made the transformation of the headquarters to the Museum, adapting the spaces to the new intended use identified and restoring the machines, while the Capitoline Museums have dealt with the archaeological exhibition. The two different interventions were carried out simultaneously, with great enthusiasm and in full harmony.

Two diametrically opposite worlds, archeology and industrial archeology, for the first time were approached by means of a courageous set-up, in which the space was organized in such a way that the pre-existing objects and what they wanted to show remained intact and they were not distorted to each other.
