Forte Prenestino is a social center occupied and self-managed since 1986. It is a social center, a place of social interaction, entertainment and organization of collective time, exchange of ideas, visions, energy and knowledge.

Forte Prenestino was constructed in the 19th century as one of fifteen military forts serving Rome. However, it was quickly abandoned due to lack of use and left to decay until 1986 when a group of like-minded citizens joined together to refurbish the fort and transform it into socially usable space. The fort has since become a cultural outlet for Rome and the only fort to deemed accessible to the community.
